Hi! I'm Mike Fletcher.

I've been learning guitar at Bones Jones Music since June 2022 and I love it!

I have always wanted to learn to play music. In the 1960's, I had all of the Beatles' 45's; in the 70's, I had the Doors' L.A. Woman and Humble Pie's Rockin' the Fillmore albums. I never pursued my interest in music. I never took a music class in high school or college. As it always does, life took over and my dream of becoming a rock 'n roller were put away.

Fast forward 55 years or so and I found myself retired and in the middle of the pandemic. While cleaning out the attic, I came across my son's Yamaha acoustic guitar from his middle school days. I decided to try and see if a 65 year old could learn to play the guitar.

I knew I didn't want to sit in a room across from a guitar teacher and try to learn to play, but I really didn't know what I wanted or what was out there.

In-person is so much better than YouTube.

I went through a number of beginner guitar lessons online and my progress was slow. In May, 2022, I visited the webpage for Bones Jones Music and I thought it sounded kinda cool so I sent an email and made an appointment with Billy.

I liked the atmosphere at BJM right away and Billy was friendly, relaxed, and cool. I thought to myself, well, I'm friendly and relaxed. Maybe if Billy can teach me how to play the guitar, I could be cool like him!

Billy's beginner-friendly approach is great!

I find that as a beginner student, Billy's instructional techniques have been very helpful, motivating, and fun. Billy breaks down his instruction into easily understandable sections and then slowly builds upon each section.

Honestly, learning to play the guitar is hard and it can be frustrating. But it can be personally rewarding, fun, and relaxing journey. I look forward to the classes each week.

Join us!

I have really enjoyed meeting the other students over the past year - the younger students and the not so younger students like me.

I would encourage anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar or who wants to become an accomplished guitar player to join us at Bones Jones Music!
